Phoenix Raceway is a one-mile oval in Avondale, Arizona, with a distinctive "dogleg" on the backstretch. It opened in 1964 as Phoenix International Raceway and seats about 42,000. Phoenix hosts the NASCAR Cup Series championship race each November, plus the O'Reilly Auto Parts and Craftsman Truck Series, NTT IndyCar Series and ARCA.
Phoenix International Raceway opened in 1964 on former cotton farmland at the foot of the Estrella Mountains west of Phoenix. It was planned by a group led by businessman Richard Hogue as a complex with a one-mile oval, a road course and a drag strip. The track went through several owners before Buddy Jobe expanded it from 1985 to 1997, when the International Speedway Corporation bought it. A 2011 reconfiguration reshaped its signature dogleg, and a 2018 renovation moved the start-finish line. From 2020 to 2025 Phoenix hosted NASCAR's championship race.
