Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile tri-oval in Las Vegas, Nevada, which opened to the public in 1996 with 20 degrees of banking in the turns and a stated capacity of 80,000. The complex also includes a 0.375-mile paved oval called the Bullring, a half-mile dirt oval, a quarter-mile drag strip and road courses. It hosts the NASCAR Cup Series, including the Pennzoil 400 and South Point 400, plus O'Reilly Auto Parts Series racing.
Racing on the site goes back to the Las Vegas Speedrome, a road course and drag strip that opened in 1971 and later added a 3/8-mile oval now called the Bullring. In the mid-1990s Richie Clyne and casino owners Ralph Engelstad and Bill Bennett built the 1.5-mile tri-oval, which opened in 1996. Speedway Motorsports bought the complex in 1998. NASCAR's Cup Series has raced there since 1998 and now visits twice a year, and the complex also includes a dirt track, drag strip and road courses.
