Owosso Speedway, located east of Ovid, Michigan on M-21, is the oldest operating speedway in Michigan, with its origins dating to 1937 when four local businessmen broke ground on the facility and opened it for racing in 1939. The track famously ceased operations during World War II, serving as an encampment for German POWs from North Africa, before reopening in 1946. After decades of evolution between dirt and pavement configurations, the current 3/8-mile progressively banked asphalt oval was built in 1988 and fully resurfaced in 2023 following acquisition by Rex and Sarah Wheeler. Today the track hosts weekly divisions including Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsmans, and Pure Stocks, and serves as a venue for the ASA STARS National Tour and ASA/CRA Super Series.
