Iowa Speedway is a 0.875-mile asphalt oval in Newton, Iowa, which opened in 2006 and seats about 30,000. Its short length produces close, door-to-door racing. The track hosts the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Cup Series and ARCA, and has also been a stop for the NTT IndyCar Series.
An early plan for a one-mile track in Newton fell through, and in 2003 Paul Schlaack's U.S. Motorsport Entertainment Corporation proposed a shorter oval instead. After funding delays, ground was broken in mid-2005, and the 0.875-mile track held its first races in September 2006. The short oval quickly hosted NASCAR and IndyCar, and NASCAR bought the track in 2013 to steady its finances. The complex also includes several road course layouts, including a roval that uses part of the oval.
