Riverhead Raceway is a 1/4-mile high-banked asphalt oval located at 1797 Old Country Road in Riverhead, NY — the heartbeat of Long Island motorsports for over seven decades. Construction began in 1949, and the track opened for its first season in 1951 as a dirt oval. It was paved to asphalt in 1955 and has delivered close-quarters, wheel-to-wheel racing ever since. The only NASCAR-sanctioned stock car racing facility in the New York metropolitan area, Riverhead Raceway is also the last remaining auto racing venue on Long Island since Westhampton Raceway closed in 2003. Racing runs on Saturday nights from May through October, drawing drivers and fans from across the tri-state region.
