About This Track
Silverstone Circuit is a 5.891-kilometer (3.660-mile), 18-turn road course in Northamptonshire, England, built on a former Royal Air Force bomber station and opened in 1948. It hosted the first race of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. Silverstone has been the permanent home of the British Grand Prix since 1987 and seats about 175,000.
